You love Frankie's? Then you gotta try this.
Amazing street food. Wish these guys opened up every nook and corner. Insanely taste, filling and at an amazing price.
Pay 80-90 bucks to tell your mom that you're skipping dinner. Make it a double, you wanna start thinking about having your breakfast late.
Good variety for both veg and non veg.

  • Adil Ashrat

Yumm !! well what can i say more.. The menu has a good variety of choices and the price is reasonable or shud i say less when compared with the Quantity cuz its more and hunger satisfied....

The best rolls shop in town. Have been a regular visitor from the time they were setup on RK Salai. Love the spread. Love the service and it is definitely cost effective. Ideal for an evening snack and takeaways. Must visit!

  • Guru Prasath

The way food slides down my throat is way more important to me than how it settles in my stomach. The meat was well cooked and the roll well wrapped. This is THE place to go if you are my type.

  • Namrata Goyal

THE KATHI ROLL SERVES ONE OF THE BEST ROLLS IN CHENNAI , THE ROLLS ARE TOTALLY FILLING , THEY ARE MADE WITH LOVE ....LOADS AND LOADS OF FILLINGS IN EACH ROLL .....ITS A PLACE NOT TO BE MISSED ....GREAT TAKE AWAYS

  • Ravjit Kaur

The best katti rolls ive ever had in the city. Really clean and yummy. Totally affordable. Love the place. My present fav.

  • Rajesh Krishna

I never expected this much quantity , Best place to hangout with friends, its wallet friendly,.. To say about the taste its lot more than the cost we pay for 😇

  • Vishaal Pinisetti

The Kati Roll is awesome and very well cooked. Mainly the sales person or the cashier was doing awesome work. He had full commitment and highly matured. It I like a boon to have such a sales person....

  • Arjun

Best Kati rolls in chennai. Food is awesome. Service is good . Parking space is not available. Its open till 11.30 pm. Its crowded on weekends. Must eat . Little pricy .

  • Deepak Balamurali

This is one of the best joints in the city to have a kati roll, no doubt. I've had half the items on their menu, but only two remain my favorites - the Chicken Malai Roll and the Chicken Anda (Egg) Roll with sauce. I recommend the second strongly, to anyone who's having their first kati roll - trust me, you're gonna be hooked for life.

This place deserves 5, but I've reduced 0.5 mainly due to two reason - parking at this spot is a pain in the rear. Someone invariably gets into a verbal confrontation with you. And the second ? Well, calling it a "dine-in" when all they've got is 4 chairs.

  • Archana Manohar

I've had Kati rolls before...but these are just divine. It's street food, so it's fast and hits the spot right when you get that craving. And their rolls have the perfect crunch to them, yet are soft. Meat is succulent, chutneys and the rest of the filling...mmhmm! My fav, is their chutpatta chicken roll. A must try for the lovers of Kati rolls :)

Having grown up in Kolkata one street food that I have gotten addicted to is Kati Roll. Finding one in Chennai was nice but discovering that the rolls tasted pretty damn good was delightful. Although this is a small hole in the wall shop abput 13 kilometers away from where I stay, that still doesn't stop me from driving there at least once in 2 months to get my Kati Roll fix!

  • Sum Yun Gai

The proverbial 'hole in the wall', this place is situated right next to the bastion of bengali food in chennai, Bay leaf, but the fare dished out from this cubby hole is a better bang for the buck than its famous neighbour.
Delicious katti rolls which really fill the hungry stomach and very reasonably priced. Two can have a comfortable meal for 250 INR.
It is better than its Harrington Road Branch. A must visit for simple food lovers

  • Docashenator

Every time one wished to have a roll it was either a restaurant named Jiffy (now shut) opposite ethiraj college or tic tac in egmore which gave tastiest of rolls in chennai... but off late d quality and taste of tic tac had also gotten bad... and den came up katti roll shop near my place on R.K salai... Dey shifted to Gopalpuram recently... undoubtedly d best rolls in chennai... in fact for health conscious dey have introduced wheat paratha too... economical and very filling... just hope dey continue d taste and quality...

  • Sharad Agarwal

Had heard a lot about this street food from the East. Though it is far from my place, took the effort to drop by and had the chicken malai roll. It was crisp on the outside and succulent inside, just delicious. Had some packed too. Keep it up guys !!

  • Amulya Gorijala

    Small place but a good1
    One Kati can fillup
    It's just near my hostel
I like the malai panner Kati
,double chicken Kati ,and egg mayo cheese Kati the most
    U can try every Kati
    I even tried there Laban
Eve. That tasted good:) happy tummy
My friend have some sickened to outside food but even she complimented that having a Kati here doesn't effect her health
So I feel sooo good of this place

  • Divya Mohan

Ths tiny place in the busy corner opp Stella Maris is a must try! We preferred take outs since it was a small space for a saturday eve. The waiting time was a lil on the higher side- we had to wait around 20 mins for 2 rolls. We had asked for Chatpata aloo & Malai tikka roll. I was imagining a snack while it turned out to be a meal by itself. Would definitely go back for the yummy rolls (Don't try to compare to Frankie) but this is so heavy & filling!

  • Avinash Shroff

simply fabulous !! 1 roll is good to go !! small place but yet amazing food amazing chicken tikka roll my favorite and absolutely value for money !

  • Bala

Gopalapuram outlet is One of the best street food place for Kati rolls in chennai. Nothing to change and complain. Value for money. Quality is well maintained

  • Madhu Bhoopathy

Well it can be a mere street shop, but  taste wise its equivalent to any leading restaurants. I tried the Malai paneer tikka roll with extra cheese, which was completely out of the world. I wouldnt say it is cost effective, but for sure u get ur money's worth. #musttryplace when you are around gopalapuram.

When it comes to Kati rolls, these guys mean business!

My hunt for the best Kati rolls in Chennai has ended with The Kati Roll Shop. Quick, yet wholesome, the Kati rolls here come in Single and Double Form (which is a bigger roll, with almost double the fillings). I love their Chicken roll (with Mayo) and the more-recent-launch Mutton Galauti Kababs. For the health conscious folks, there is an option to go in for whole-wheat parathas in place of the regular maida parathas.

Don't forget, you also have an option of just going for the Kebabs if you are not in the mood to have a roll. Their sweet-and-spicy mint chutney gives a zing to their Kebabs. Easy on pockets and a great takeaway spot - sums up my review for The Kati Roll Shop.

Must Try - Mutton Galauti Kebabs. Paneer Malai Roll/Chicken Malai Roll.

  • Jinny Do

Stick with the chicken or paneer rolls to fill your belly for less than 200 rupees. Kati Roll is decently fast, very fresh, and puts out great quality food. The menu selection is modest, but offers enough flavors and combos of kati rolls to keep both veg and meat eaters happily exploring their options for three or four visits. The Anda rolls are a bit on the sweet side, though the chili comes through. A freezer full of ice cream pops sits temptingly out front, a dangerous distraction while waiting for your order to come up.

  • Sathya Prakash

This place is situated in a tiny street next to the mighty gangotree restaurant. The saying "Looks can be deceiving"can be perfectly applied to this place. The delicious food very well makes up for the lack of ambience. I have had rolls at different street shops and restaurants, but this is by far the best rolls I have had. The base was perfectly cooked and pretty crispy. The great thing about this place is you can choose the amount of filling you want. The filling itself was just delicious and  delicately cooked to perfection. If you're in the area and want to have your money and taste buds worth this is the place to go. Awesome rolls at budget price. Happy eating.

  • Vasanth D

This shop is one of the best road side food shop All rolls here are nice. Especially chicken seek roll is delicious. I usually go there twice a month.

  • Vignesh Raghavan

Best katti rolls had irani paneer ,chilli paneer , malai paneer rolls it will fill you easily tasted good And it's value for money and all don't forget to try the hazelnut food coffee tasted yumm :)

  • Indira ..

Rated   Situated on the rear end of the road that takes exactly opposite to Stella maris, this place gives you the exact street food ambience. One of my friends was conversing with the owner, both the father and the son seemed friendly. We had been there on a weekday afternoon and we were surprised quiet a number of people were there for having their lunch . So these are definitely easy on our pocket and filling on the stomach. The taste is undoubtedly good. With a few chairs laid outside it's a very small outlet but seems clean and hygienic. They don't make you wait for much time, and usually there are a few students outside adding to the ambience.
I had ordered for a paneer malai tikka, which took me off...It was sweet and sour . Also ive heard from non vegetarians that chicken n mutton also taste really good. Do go in for the doubles were in you get extra stuffing . It keeps you fuller for longer.
It may not seem lik a wrap is worth a Rs.100 at first but with the taste quantity and quality that they offer...it surely is!

  • Abhigyan Mandal

Awesome Calcutta style rolls..very tasty..the parathas are perfectly cooked and they have enough options to vary the amount n type of fillings to satisfy everyone and to tempt u to come more often..kebabs are awesome as well .. n unlike most roll eateris their veg rolls are great as well

  • Aruna S Laxmy

I go to kati roll at least once a month and not even once have I not been satisfied.
It is a tiny outlet in the residential streets of gopalapuram near well known outlets like bay leaf and gangotree.
It is a roadside shop with cute brick walls and is clean and hygienic.
One double layer kati roll is more than enough for a meal. It's that filling.
I have tried almost all of their choices, the paneer rolls are wonderful with huge chunks of perfectly cooked paneer in the roll unlike the rolls in restaurants with paneer one can hardly taste.
The chatpata aloo roll is spicy.
The egg roll takes more time to cook than the other rolls but is definitely worth the wait. A single layer egg cheese and Mayo is my favourite. Anda paneer is a little spicy and the flavour of the egg is overshadowed by the masala of the paneer but it is worth a shot.
    Food is very economical.

  • Sharmada

Located in one of the inner lanes of gopalapuram, the kati roll shop is my go to place for a quick bite. The first time I came across this place, was when a group of us ordered it in. I was satisfied. It tasted brilliant and worth the money. I've tried the chatpata aloo roll and the anda paneer roll. Both are excellent. I'd recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a quick bite that keeps the stomach happy as well. The rolls are filling and tasty. :)

  • Benedict Gnaniah

This afternoon I stumbled on this place. I am glad I did. It looks so dainty and thats the only reason I stopped hoping to nibble on some snack and move on. Surprise Surprise... I ordered a simple Chicken Katti Roll.. and guess what I got a real large one.. stuff with yummy chicken... good chunks. I had a problem finishing it. But I did.

will I got there again?  Of course I will..

  • Anshuta Maheshwari

Somehow places with a limited menu rock. I personally love this place as being near to my vicinity and within my budget. A good place to go grab some food when in a hurry. Hygienic food is served and although I don't have non-veg friends claim chicken malai kabab roll is a must try.

  • Guddu Anand

    My Rolls... Getting Ready...
    Anda Rolls ...
    Anda Mutton Rolls ...
    Chat Pata Aloo Rolls ...
And ... Mix Non Veg Rolls ... This Has Me Transported To The Streets Of Calcutta ... Yummy ... Tangy ... Juicy ...

  • Sana Musthafa Ummer

Looking for a place to have mouth watering rolls? Then this is it. Awesome tasty rolls. We usually buy from here on our way to Marina beach. Since we are non veg lovers, we usually order chicken tikka roll and chicken sheek roll. I like the chicken tikka roll. It is so tasty and made with the perfect flavours. Keep up the good work guys!

  • Gopinath Rajendran

Rated   Very few shops can claim the title for one of the best street food stalls in town and if there is such a list, Kati rolls will definitely make it on one among the top. Some say that this place is as good as the rolls one would get in Calcutta (Kolkatta for those who also call Heaven as Chennai instead of Madras :P). I haven't tried the rolls of Calcutta but if they taste similar to these ones, a food trip to W.Bengal is inevitable. Given below is my review for The Kati Roll Shop, Gopalapuram.

    PROS:-
    * The ambience is perfect for that street food culture without those ugly bits. A few chairs to those awaiting their dose of pabulum was welcoming. The huge board sports the items they serve. The place definitely looks clean and tidy.
    * The menu is pretty extensive considering they do only a certain type of food. There are much more items than what it says on the menu they've given here in Zomato.
    * The number of dishes for the vegetarians are surprisingly high.
    * There isn't much to comment on the service but the senior person on the counter (whom I assume is the proprietor) was an amazing person to strike a conversation with.
    * As it was our first time here and as we have no clue on what their speciality is, we decided to play it safe, my friend and I went with a Chicken roll and a Chicken Malai roll. Both tasted delicious. Apart from cursing gravity for pulling the stuffings to the bottom we had a wonderful time devouring our evening snack.

    CONS:-
    * Parking is a huge issue here. The shop is placed exactly at the narrowest part of the road. This place is a mess during peak hours and even parking two wheelers is a mammoth task.
    * Exactly not sure if this should be a point here but I saw a kid working in the kitchen. Somethings are just hard to ignore.
    * I felt that the price was a tad on the higher end. I'm sure it would sound considerable if reduced by around 20%.

Overall, My experience here was overwhelming. The rolls are a must try. Not sure about the veggie ones, but both the chicken dishes were delightfully piquant.

    RATINGS BREAK UP:-
    Location:- 3.5/5
    Parking:- 1/5
    Reception:- 3.5/5
    Food:- 4.5/5
    Customer Service:- 4/5
    Ambience:- 3.5/5
    Price:- 3/5

Being a hostellite, the kati roll shop is one of our regulars. The food is good and the service is great. The uncle at the billing counter is always so nice that we don't mind the fact that sometimes the food takes a while, especially when its crowded. Its definetly my go to place and will continue being so.

  • Arvind Kumar

More like a street food stall, really great place for a quick bite that's quite filling and cheap at the same time. Would definitely recommend extra mayo on any order from here.

  • Varun Ramachandran

one of those days were u want some tasty fillers but don want a hole in a pocket, this is exactly the place u wud want to go...tats how i reached here with my friend... :) :)

    location -
located off cathederal road , this could be easily located as it is opposite to stella maris college , the kutty street adjacent to gangotree will take u here!! parking for a 4 wheeler cud be a concern..

    ambience
its a small street fud joint - come , have a bite and go kinda place , decently maintained ...

    food
they have awesome varieties of rolls on the offer..the ones we had were chicken malai double roll and egg & mayo double roll.both of them tasted awesome ..the chicken was very soft indeed...a double wud be a gud snack option for an average person ..apart frm rolls they got kebabs which i am yet to explore..

    pricing:
decently priced , i felt it to be reasonable for the taste..around 250 for 2..

    a must visit place ...

  • Roshan

Rated   The Indianized version of the burrito, that's what this place stands out for..... This is a no nonsense place that just does it's job in satisfying your taste buds..... Great variety, more of takeaway kinda place..... They have various flavors(paneer, Malai paneer, aloo, cauliflower, egg, blah, blah) which come in two types of servings based on content inside the street rolls(single and double), needless to say double is the one which has more stuff inside...
And the one thing that I really like about this joint is the combinations you can make up along with your customization.... If I had to choose, the egg cheese mayo roll(double) is the best I've had here... Takes you to the abyss, that one....I swear to god, believe me if you want, I saw the owner of this place, chilling out at zara during my lunch time ( which in his defense is not too far out from his shop)...... Oh and they have varieties of bread you'd like the roll made in like wheat, maida and some other names.... Not to forget, they also have a small seating place inside which I've only seen.... Trust me, just gorge in....

  • Vimal Adhithiya Chozhan

One of the best katti roll shops in chennai.. We can quickly takeaway. Tasts great. Not too expensive. A go to place to eat katti rolls. Enjoy the place.

  • God Of Mischief

The rolls were simply superb good taste than Frankie and the cold coffee which was charged 45 rupees was ok but the quantity is very little

  • Sai Sunil

Ordered the mutton keema roll and egg, cheese & Mayo roll. Have eaten here more than a couple of times. They've always been consistent when it comes to taste. Pretty fast in terms of preparation. The egg mayo and cheese roll which I had for the first time today was one of the tastiest roll I've ever had. It had the right mix of ingredients good portion and was divine to taste. Big round of applause I'd say. The mutton Kheema roll was pretty good and filling, just a bit too spicy maybe a fit for spice lovers. Overall a great to place to get food from.

  • Priyanka Satish

Awesome rolls I ever had ! It's just at the corner Of the road that leads to the main road of cathedral . I had paneer rolls with extra cheese and mayonnaise ! They also have special type of rolls and also a lot of various types of delicious cold coffee ! I had cold coffee with hazelnut . They have options of switching to wheat parathas ! Most reasonable and pocket friendly place 😁
Enjoyed my rolls and they were quite quick in service ! There were red waiting chairs outside ! Though a lil small ! I don't mind standing even in the road to get these rolls 😁

  • Jameela Sv

One of my go to places for a quick takeaway when you don't have time for lunch! Generous filling and super cheap! Love the malai paneer option!

  • Vyshnavee Nikhil Sathasivam

I ordered a paneer kati roll. And they took their own sweet time. But the end result- super hot and yummy yum kati roll!

This maybe the first time on earth that a person is complaining about too much quantity. But believe me, that kati roll was massive. It was more like a meal (the first 4 bites of it) and then falling prey to gluttony ( the rest of it).
My issue with the size is this : though I stand by " the more the merrier" motto, according to the laws of kati rolls, the first 2 bites are scalding hot, the next two lukewarm and the rest is like chewing shoes. And so more than half of this biiiig one feels like chewing shoes if you talk in between or sit in the car and munch on it (like I do) .

Don't tell me to heat it up again!

  • Sashank Puri

Must haves- nawabi roll with double egg.
Chicken tikka double chicken double egg.
Good rolls. Best to eat there when it's hot. Ordering home makes the roti soggy.

  • Shafeeq Abrar

Whenever you have a craving to bite in to some delicious kebabs wrapped in generous rolls, then this is the place to be. Been a regular to this place since their launch near R.K Salai...My favorites here would be Mixed Non Veg roll and Anda Mutton Roll. You have a choice to single/double the meat quantities . Meat is soft and juicy. The sauces perfectly blending with the Roti and kebabs ... But only problem is they do not have a place to dine in. You can either stand around the place and eat or takeaway. But definitely worth visiting just for the taste. Personal recommendation would be to have a filling roll here and finish off your meal by having some  yummylicious desserts in Gangotree(Kesar Badam Milk :) )

  • Harish Palaniappan

So my long search for a good frankie/roll shop has at last ended.
Really been bored of the below par Tibbs frankies.
A single roll of anything you order here is more than enough for an evening snack and makes your tummy full.
The chicken egg roll was epic.
One of the best roadside shops in Chennai without any doubt.
